Charlotte NC 10-13 Club
What started out ten + years ago as an informal get-together, several times a year, by six of our members, Kevin Gribbon, Bob Hansen, Harvey Katowitz , Norm Lovitch, Dave Schultheis, and Ed Weir, has transformed into a vibrant organization. Throughout the years, these six members talked about forming an affiliate 10-13 Club, but were unable to do so because they did not have the required 25 members to form a club. In recent years they began to identify other NYPD retirees who resided in the Charlotte area and in March of last year the Club was formed with 35 members.
Much has been accomplished since then. Our membership has increased to 94. Attendance at our meetings have doubled. In April 2007 our by-laws were unanimously approved by the 25 members present at the meeting. On May 30th our Club was incorporated as a Non-Profit Corp. in the state of NC. In July 2207 we joined the National NYCPD 10-13 Org., Inc. In November our application for tax exempt status as a 501 (c) (7) organization was approved by the IRS. And last month we held our first event, a Christmas party.
