Drive-by Shooting
Drive-By
Shooting
Laughing, joking, just standing
around,
A few seconds later bodies on the
ground.
Shots rang out, there were
many,
Another drive-by shooting – reason
– there isn’t
any.
Three young men lay dead in the
street.
Their dreams and potential they
will never
meet.
As the crowd gathers around and
voices fill the
air,
Why does this continue – doesn’t
anybody
care?
Then there are screams,
overpowering they
seem,
As the mothers of these boys start
to live their worst
dream.
They try to wake up, hoping they
are still
asleep,
Then reality strikes, this time
their boys death will
keep.
A tragic end, no doubt for
sure,
But at this point for death there
is no
cure.
Look around, surely someone is to
blame,
For all of this violence – it is
such a
shame.
It is all of us who must bear the
blame.
We can’t sit back and innocence
claim.
Discipline has failed, we‘ve taken
GOD out of
school.
Many now ignore or are ignorant of
the Golden
Rule.
What can we expect, allowing what
we do?
Our society is starting to lose
its glue.
Gangs in the street are doing what
they want.
We don’t seem to care, unless it’s
your neighborhood they
haunt.
So what must we do to impact this
mess?
Discipline and citizenship is what
we must
stress.
Living in a world one must be
accountable.
If we fail to demand it the
problem is
insurmountable.
