
Lynn Wilson
Secretary
Lynn began in law enforcement at the Asheville Police Department July 4th, 1987, on Independence Day, and was sworn in on September 17th, Constitution Day. She spent most of her career on patrol but did have a couple of side gigs. From 1993-1996 she worked in the 2-person major crime scene forensic unit. 1996, Lynn was the only female in the first group of five to be promoted to Master Police Officers at Asheville PD. Lynn served in the property/evidence room from 2011- 2015 when she retired, on paper. Lynn continued working part-time for APD until fully retiring in 2021.
At the first available meeting after her swearing in, Lynn joined the FOP on October 1st, 1987. In 1989 she became a Lodge Trustee. 2001 and into 2002 changed positions from Chaplain, to Treasurer, then Secretary due to changes in the lodges board. Later that year she was officially elected to the Executive Board as Secretary and has held that position ever since. In 2022 she volunteered to also take on the job as Lodge #1’s Treasurer.
At the 2016 State Biennial Conference, Lynn was elected to the position of NC FOP State Secretary where she continues to serve in that position to the present day. Currently she is also on the NC State FOP Legal Aid Committee where she has served for several years, and for a time served as a member of the NC State FOP Awards Committee. During National Police Week in May, Lynn also assists the Credential Committee preparing for, and working the National Peace Officers Memorial Service held on the US Capital lawn.
